History: The Philadelphia Phillies of 1950, also known as the "Whiz Kids," won the National League Pennant on the last game of the season when future Hall of Famer Robin Roberts for the Phillies faced off against All-Star hurler Don Newcombe of the Brooklyn Dodgers. The Phillies would win in the 10th inning and then went on to be swept in the World Series against the mighty New York Yankees.
